The Trout Spot

The Trout Spot Fishing Report for week of 5/22/2018

Fishing on the North Fork of the Stanislaus has been a bit slow so far this year.  The cool weather we have been having, has been keeping the bugs down and the bite has been hit or miss.  Hopefully it will warm up soon and get things moving.

Spicer reservoir, has been producing some good numbers on the fly.  Fish are down deep still, but a sinking line with Prince nymph or Zug Bugs have been doing the trick.

If you enjoy catching wild trout on small water, Beaver creek has been producing some fish as well.  Caddis patterns are doing the trick.

Lake Alpine is also producing some fish as well...

We are scrambling to try and get some fish plants up here do to the Moccasin creek hatchery wipe out.  Please feel free to contact our DFW representative, Ben Ewing at 1-530-906-3934 and put a bug in his ear about getting some plants in our area.

Flows on the Carson, remain high, but are starting to drop.  Fishing should start improving soon....

The Lower Sac is fishing good to very good.  Flows have stabilized . The main bite has been on PMD's and Caddis and staying out until dark will give some great dry fly opportunities. If you would like to book a float trip on the Lower Sac, contact Chris Gearhart at Bent Rod Fly Fishing Adventures for a great day on the water.  We highly recommend Chris...

The East Walker and the Lower Owens are fishing well.  If your looking to do a guided trip on the east side, contact  Western Hatch Guide Service to book a trip.
