Shipping & Returns
At The Trout Spot, we do our best to maintain the lowest possible shipping costs available. Most shipments are made using USPS, but we also ship by FedEx and UPS. We determine the best way to ship your items by size and weight. Below are our standard shipping rates. On International Orders, you may be charged initially at our higher International shipping rates. Upon packaging your order we determine the actual shipping costs and a refund for the lower shipping costs will be made to your account.
Orders over $50
The Trout Spot International shipping rates vary with each order. We pack and weigh each international shipment to get the actual postage price, including insurance. And add $2.00 for Handling costs. Standard shipments, for smaller items, start at $14.95 and go up from there, depending on the weight and/or package size. We calculate the actual cost of shipping by packaging up the goods, weighing the package, and checking the price through the United States Postal Service website. We then charge that amount, rounded up to the next dollar, and ship the order (once shipping cost is approved - anything over $14.95 requires your approval). If the cost of shipping is less than $14.95 we will refund your account upon shipment.
The customer is ultimately responsible for any duties or customs fees incurred and must pay them upon receipt of their shipment. These fees are different for each individual country and we are unable to calculate this additional cost. At the time of placing your order you can ask for a shipping quote prior to your order being processed or you can ask us to simply ship the merchandise. Our shipping department does their very best to keep the costs as low as possible for all orders, including international shipments. Should you need your International Shipment expedited please ask to have it sent via UPS International. There is an increased cost with this method, but the shipment will arrive in approximately 3-5 days, depending how long customs takes to clear this shipment. In order to maintain our ability to ship internationally, we are do not falsify documents on these shipments (mark as Gift, lower invoice total, etc.).
We will gladly accept any unused item returned to us within 30 days of purchase. Package and return any regularly stocked merchandise to us within thirty (30) days for a full refund, credit, or exchange. All sale, clearance, and special order items may not be returned for any reason other than being defective. The Trout Spot will issue a Call Tag for any defective merchandise or any item(s) shipped in error.
A copy of the receipt, packing slip, or invoice should accompany all returns. Include your request for a refund, exchange, or replacement.
Rod & Reel returns: Rods can be cast on lawns to make sure that this is the proper rod, but we are unable to accept a return if the rod has damage or has a dirty cork grip. Used reels will not be accepted for return.
Waders & Boots: Please try on waders and boots inside a clean house to insure a proper fit before using them for outdoor use. Used boots and waders will not be approved for return, exchange, or credit and will be promptly shipped back to you at your expense.
